6,000 Boholano Workers Receive P29.2 Million in Government Aid through TUPAD Program
A total of 6,000 underemployed, self-employed, and displaced marginalized workers in Bohol have received a combined P29.2 million in government aid through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program, according to the Department of Labor and Employment-7 (DOLE-7).
Regional Director Lilia Estillore revealed that the beneficiaries, hailing from 22 towns in Bohol, were employed for 10 days to undertake various community-based projects.
These projects included the repair, maintenance, and improvement of public facilities and infrastructure, community clean-up initiatives, and agro-forestry community projects.
As part of the program, each worker received a daily wage of P468, providing them with a much-needed source of income.
Moreover, the workers were provided with protective equipment and one-year personal accident insurance coverage through the Government Service Insurance System.
The TUPAD program is a community-based initiative aimed at providing temporary employment and income support to marginalized workers.
The recent payout is a proof to the Philippine government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and promoting economic growth in the country.
