Aumentado Names Besas as New Running Mate for 2025 Election
The governor of Bohol province has announced his new running mate for the 2025 local elections, following the death of his previous partner.
Governor Aris Aumentado has chosen Nick Besas, the president of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Bohol Chapter and a current city councillor, to run alongside him.
The announcement was made during a political convention in Panglao, Bohol, organized by Aumentado’s Team Abante (Forward Team).
Besas replaced the late Vice-Governor Victor Balite on the ticket. He is the father of Alexie Besas Tutor, who currently represents Bohol’s 3rd District in Congress.
The choice of Besas is seen as a move to consolidate political support in the province, particularly in the 3rd District.
In a related development, incumbent Vice-Governor Tita Baja will not seek re-election to her current post. Instead, she will run for a position as Board Member in the 3rd District, aligning herself with Team Abante.
Last Sunday’s meeting, which brought together various local political figures, is viewed as a significant event in shaping the province’s political landscape ahead of the 2025 elections.
Political analysts suggest that these moves indicate Team Abante’s strategy to strengthen its position across different levels of local government in Bohol.
