Bohol Mayors Not Required to Travel to Manila for PFP Oath-Taking, Says Mayor
Bohol mayors aligned with the Abante and Kumbati political groupw are not obligated to travel to Manila to take their oath as members of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), Corella Mayor Juan Manuel Lim has said.
Governor Erico Aristotle Aumentado is scheduled to travel to Manila on August 8 to be sworn in as a PFP member, according to local reports.
"The mayors can take their oaths before Governor Aumentado here in Bohol after August 8," Lim told Bohol media.
Sources say Aumentado will become the provincial chairman of PFP upon taking his oath, leaving the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) party.
Initial reports indicate that several mayors, including Lim, Maribojoc Mayor Romy Manuta, Baclayon Mayor Alvin Uy, and Calape Mayor Julius Herrera, are set to join PFP.
However, Cortes Mayor Lynn Iven Lim is not expected to join the Abante group, as Aumentado is reportedly fielding Vice Mayor Rudy Uy as a mayoral candidate in next year’s elections.
The political landscape in Bohol continues to evolve as local officials realign ahead of the upcoming 2025 elections.
