Tagbilaran Officials to Inspect Market Scales Amid Fraud Concerns

City officials in Tagbilaran will conduct random inspections of weighing scales in local markets to combat fraud, the Local Economic Enterprise Office announced Tuesday.

The move comes in response to complaints that some traders are using improperly calibrated or tampered scales to shortchange consumers, said Leonides Borja, chief of the office overseeing city markets.

Authorities plan to confiscate non-compliant scales and penalize offending vendors, according to officials.
