Defeated Duero Candidates Eye Comeback in 2025 Polls
Two losing candidates in the 2022 elections in Duero, Bohol are reportedly planning a comeback in next year’s polls, sources said.
Former Mayor Connie Amparo and former Vice Mayor Mapay Peligro Bajade are said to be seeking certain posts in the 2025 elections.
According to sources, Bajade will challenge incumbent Mayor Al Taculad, while Amparo will run against incumbent Vice Mayor Hermes Bajao.
Bajade previously served as vice mayor in 2016, while Amparo completed three terms as mayor from 2013 to 2022. Both Amparo and Bajade lost in the 2022 elections.
It remains unclear whether the two female leaders will run under a specific party or as independents in the upcoming polls.
The development comes as the 2025 elections are expected to be highly contested, with several candidates already expressing interest in various govt posts.
No official statement has been released by Amparo and Bajade regarding their reported plans to run in the 2025 elections.
