Tagbilaran City Residents Demand Crackdown on Loud Motorcycle Mufflers

Residents of Tagbilaran City are calling for a crackdown on loud motorcycle mufflers, which they say are causing noise pollution and disturbing the peace.

The issue was raised at a joint meeting of the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) and the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) last week.

Barangay Captain Bert Remolador of Poblacion 3 brought the issue to the forefront, citing complaints from his constituents who live near busy city streets.

"The loud noises from motorcycle mufflers are disturbing the peace within our community," he said.

Remolador expressed his willingness to volunteer and assist the police in conducting operations to enforce the city’s ordinances against loud mufflers.

The problem is attributed to some motorists who modify their motorcycle mufflers to make them louder, disregarding the disturbance it causes to residents who may be resting in their homes.

The city has existing ordinances that prohibit the use of loud mufflers, and there have been apprehensions made in the past against violators.

However, residents are calling for stricter enforcement to address the issue.

CPOC and CADAC are expected to work with the city government and law enforcement agencies to address the concerns of the residents and find a solution to the noise pollution problem.
