Shell-backed community development initiatives in Tagbilaran celebrated a major milestone, as the city marked the successes of its local communities through the 2024 Culmination Day.
During the event held at the Tagbilaran City Hall Atrium, 25 scholars who completed the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I training under the Sanayan sa Kakayahang Industriyal (SKIL) program were honored.
All scholars achieved a 100% passing rate in the TESDA competency assessment, paving the way for promising careers in technical-vocational fields.
The event also recognized three local enterprises – the Association of Persons with Disability Workers in Tagbilaran City, SWEETS & Desserts by Cris and Madel, and Hugpong Kababay-an sa Lower Cogon – which were awarded grants by the Shell LiveWIRE program to support their growth and development.
The achievements were made possible through collaboration with key partners, including the City Government of Tagbilaran, the Tagbilaran City Livelihood and Community Development Unit, SBR Technical Education Training Center, Inc., and Shell Pilipinas Corporation Tagbilaran Terminal.
"We have started well this year, and I hope our collaboration and support for each other will continue," said Rey Labajo, SPC Tagbilaran Terminal Manager, citing the importance of working together to deliver lasting positive impact to communities.
The event was attended by esteemed guests, including Shell Pilipinas SPSI Manager Conrad Parizal, PSFI Downstream Program Manager Ynna Lauron-Doblado, and City Councilor Fausto Budlong.
The Philippine Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) expressed its gratitude to stakeholders and partners, pledging continued efforts to uplift lives and build sustainable opportunities.
