Bohol’s First District to See Over P2B in Infrastructure Development for 2025
More than P2 billion in infrastructure projects are slated for the first district of Bohol, as outlined in the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA), a source from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) First Highways Engineering District disclosed.
The budget for these projects across various towns, including Tagbilaran City, totals P2.6 billion. Most of these projects are expected to be opened for bidding next month.
This substantial allocation might be replicated in the second and third districts of Bohol. However, some projects initially considered for implementation have been moved to the unprogrammed category, with details set to be released in March.
The DPWH was among the agencies receiving huge funding in the GAA, though President Marcos Jr. applied line-item vetoes to some DPWH projects before signing the 2025 budget on December 30, 2024.
Congressman Atty. Edgar M. Chatto has been instrumental in securing these funds, focusing on projects that cater to long-term community needs.
One notable project is the third bridge linking Tagbilaran to Panglao Island, anticipated to ease future traffic congestion and facilitate access to Panglao airport.
Another major project includes a flood control project in midtown Tagbilaran City, aimed at addressing chronic flooding issues in the area.
These developments reflect a vision for sustainable growth and infrastructure readiness for future challenges in Bohol’s first district.
