The voting population of Bohol has nearly reached 1 million, according to the latest count from the local Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office.

As of the election registration board meeting on July 15, 2024, the total number of registered voters in Bohol stood at 963,639, COMELEC Tagbilaran Election Supervisor Rocco Lamanilao said.

Voter registration remains open until Sept. 30, 2024, and officials expect the number to increase as some residents may wait until the last minute to register.

COMELEC officials are urging residents not to delay registration to avoid long lines and crowds at local offices.

"We expect the number to increase as we get closer to the deadline," Lamanilao said. "We may even reach 1 million by the next election board meeting on Oct. 15, 2025."

The COMELEC also reminded residents who were unable to vote in two successive elections to reactivate their registration.

Additionally, those who will turn 18 years old on or before election day in 2025 are eligible to register and vote.

Boholanos are encouraged to register early to avoid any issues on election day.
