Dauis Police Chief Laments Lack of Intelligence FundsDauis Police Chief Laments Lack of Intelligence Funds
The police chief of Dauis, Bohol, has expressed frustration over the lack of intelligence funds allocated to the town mayor’s office, saying it hinders their ability to effectively combat crime.
Lt. Rogelio Baluran told DYTR station that without intelligence funds, police officers are forced to use their own money to conduct buy-bust operations and gather intelligence on suspected criminals.
Baluran said that the lack of funds is particularly problematic in light of increasing reports of drug-related activities in Dauis.
He noted that police often struggle to apprehend suspects because they are able to detect the possibility of arrest before the police can act.
The Dauis Sangguniang Bayan had previously rejected the budget for intelligence funds to be allocated to the mayor’s office, leaving the police without a vital resource for combating crime.
Intelligence funds are typically used to support discreet or covert operations aimed at preventing or combating crime.
