Fluendo, the leading multimedia software company, and SERAPHIC, the leading HbbTV 2 solution provider in the world, recently announced the roll out of an Android TV compliant HbbTV 2 SDK.
The new SDK will be showcased at IBC 2018, the world’s most influential media, entertainment and technology show, in Amsterdam.
Following its launch of Linux based HbbTV 2 SDK, the new solution is now able to provide the cross-platform HbbTV SDK compliant with the latest HbbTV 2.0.1 standard. This last release enhances the specification with support to HTML5, HEVC, TTML, MPEG DASH (DVB profile), Companion Screen, Media Synchronization, ClearKey and Ad insertion.
The new HbbTV 2.0.1 compliant Android TV solution combines SERAPHIC HbbTV SDK, which provides seamless HTML5 compatibility, and Fluendo SDK, which supports Android Media Framework and provides a GStreamer based Adaptive Streaming Component to implement DVB DASH.
The resulting SDK fully meets with Android TV’s TV Input Framework (TIF), which could resolve device manufacturers’ concern to obtain the Android TV certification. Moreover, it supports the latest Android O Operating System and will evolve along with Android’s system update.
