TAGBILARAN CITY – The Sangguniang Panlungsod swiftly acted on persistent complaints about overcharging by tricycle drivers in the city, with City Councilor Jonas Cacho leading the investigation.
Cacho, who chairs the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Public Utilities and Franchises, called a committee meeting to address the issue, particularly involving the tricycle operators at the city’s port.
Passengers have reported being charged excessive fares, including P250 for a ride from the port to the Integrated Bus Terminal in Dao.
In response, the Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) at the port agreed to issue fare receipts to passengers to facilitate complaints against overcharging. They also committed to posting tarpaulins displaying official fare rates at the port to guide the public.
Councilor Cacho also tackled concerns from TODA regarding Maxim Rides and Delivery Services, which they claim has been operating without a franchise in Tagbilaran.
