As the result of popular demand, DSA now provides ETD instrument courses led by new Director of Trace Technologies, Russ Horseman.
Russ has been involved in Threat Detection Training and Courseware Development for nearly three decades and has seen it all. In the 90’s, Russ was the lead courseware developer for (at that time) the largest Navy training contract ever awarded. Soon after, he standardized training and procedures for the original trace detection integration contract awarded by the government. From 2000 on, Russ has been employed as a course developer by all major ETD instrument manufacturers, including Iontrack/Morpho/Rapiscan, Barringer/ Smiths, and Implant Sciences/L3. Russ brings his vast experience with OEM training, protocols, and equipment to DSA, reinforcing the nation’s most widespread offering in Trace Detection Training.
Russ has recently developed a full suite of classroom-based, ETD instrument operator training courses covering the three most-used instruments around the globe: QS-B220, 500DT, and DX. Typical course topics include Introduction to Trace Detection, Instrument Components, Sampling, Login/off, Calibration, Verification, Maintenance, Supervisor/Administrator Functions, and Consumables.
DSA has already begun training on these instruments and always requests student feedback to ensure the best course programs available. The following are real reviews from a DSA classroom course completed in May 2018:
“The instructor was very informative and knowledgeable. He answered all
questions thoroughly and in a professional manner.”
“I found this training class highly informative and feel comfortable with the material.”
“Very informative. Kept it interesting.”
“Very personable, easy to follow, questions were easily answered.”
Online versions of these courses can be expected in Summer 2018. All of DSA’s courses, including its training philosophy, classroom training style, and online training can be browsed here.
