BREAKING NEWS REACTION TO NTC CEASE OPERATIONS ACTION VERSUS ABS-CBN
The Chairperson and Commissioners of the National Telecommunications Commission have just proven to the entire country how they are not men of their word, that they are men without honor by ordering ABS-CBN to cease operation despite the clear assertion of authority by Congress, in particular, the House of Representatives, on any legislative franchise pending and under evaluation.
NTC now has a lot of explaining to do. We in Congress will not allow this clear affront to the constitutional authority of the House.
By their decision and action, they have escalated the ABS-CBN franchise matter toward a constitutional crisis while the country is battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
The NTC officials have shown they are heartless and senseless.
But Congress will not respond in similar fashion. We will prove that we observe the rule of law, not the rule of men. We will respond with compassion for the over 11,000 workers affected by this new crisis on top of the COVID-19 crisis. (END)
