J. Abdul Kalam, 11th President of India, who had offered to be the ambassador for the awards. All the awardees are dubbed Noble Laureates and REX Karmaveer Global Fellows.
Spotting the future of finance
An early proponent of Blockchain and digital currency, Fernandes has been writing about Blockchain technology (Specifically Bitcoin) since 2013, when Bitcoin was valued at just $13.25- today its price hovers around $7800 (a 57,000% increase). He followed that up with multiple columns for GlobeAsia including July 2013’s “Bitcoin and the Future of Money” and “The Bitcoin Curse” in April 2014. A frequent speaker at international Blockchain conferences, Fernandes is also a bi-weekly expert analyst guest on the "Crypto Now" Show on for Bloxlive TV, Malta.
Award-winning work-promoting Blockchain for Good
Fernandes was also a featured speaker at the 2019 REX CONCLiVE event where he spoke about the potential of Blockchain technology to build a more sustainable society supporting the PPP principle – people, planet and profit. He also spoke about his work at Neco Finance, a Berlin registered non-profit dedicated to addressing global challenges including debt, poverty and climate change. For just over a year, as ICO Manager and Investment Circle lead, he helped create a stable currency that provides funding for global solutions to ecological, social and economic problems. He is also a lead advisor on SynLedger, a Blockchain-based global peer to peer, electric vehicle charging infrastructure project.
Commenting on the award, Jason says, "I’m delighted that this technology is being recognized- through my initiative with TokenJay TV- I hope to continue to use my platform to promote the cause of Blockchain and Fintech for good." This year’s Karmaveer Chakra awardees represent 10 plus countries from across the globe and were finalized after a rigorous selection process. These awards seek to celebrate and inspire individual citizen social responsibility, justice, and action, and are held on the day the Indian Constitutional Pledge was signed.
