Organized by China’s Foshan National High-tech Zone and hosted by local incubator Lion City Angel Investment, 2019 Deep-Tech Startup Competition has proven to be a successful drive to match local startups looking for application scenarios with big Chinese consumer market and investors.
With the support from NTUitive, NUS GRIP, and SUTD, more than 55 teams signed up for this competition and 5 came out to be the winners. The first prize went to Eureka Robotics from NTUitive, providing robotic solutions targeting precise manufacturing companies.
The 5 winning teams, together with 5 other good-performing teams, went on their award trip to Foshan on 13th August. During the public presentation, the Mayor of Foshan, the Head of High-tech Zone Management Committee, representatives from more than 40 local companies and 20 investment institutions were present. For the one-hour networking session afterwards, the teams engaged in activities with interested customers and investors directly for the maximization of usage of time.
Through this event, Lion City Angel Investment is hoping to raise awareness among local startups to go beyond the country border and think bigger. With the Chinese government’s tremendous support for foreign talents, we are happy to be the bridge to link up both parties for the betterment of both countries.
