EC-Council announces its first CISO Forum in Canada

The Global CISO Forum, EC-Council’s largest executive-level conference, will be debuting a Canadian edition for the first time, to be hosted at the Sheraton on the Falls in Niagara Falls, a AAA/CAA 2018 4 Diamond hotel. Now in its ninth year, EC-Council’s CISO Event Series brings speakers, attendees, and sponsors from all over the world together to discuss the ever-changing field of executive information security management. Topics focus on leadership, strategic management, innovation, and cutting-edge solutions to the challenge of leading large information security programs. CISO Forum Canada will bring leaders from around the region as speakers and attendees for keynotes, panel discussions, and roundtables followed by a cocktail reception.

The Forum is being shaped by an all-star event committee, featuring Michael Leung, Principal and Management Consultant for Canadian Cybersecurity Inc.; Samer Adi, VP Infrastructure and CISO for Interac Corp; Mohsen Azari, Senior InfoSec Cyber Security Manager for Walmart Canada; Hugh Burley Member at CUCCIO Security Special Interest Group; Michael Ball, Information Security Adviser at Freedom Mobile; Bashir Fancy, Managing Director at Corporate Solutions & Services, Inc.; Farooq Naiyer, Chief Information Security Officer of ORION; Jamie Rees, CISO at Energie NB Power; Sunny Jassal, Cyber Security Officer at British Columbia Institute of Technology; Salman Ashraf, Director IT Security/Risk at Travelers Canada; and John Levay, CIO of Niagara College. The committee is ensuring that all speakers and topics presented at the Forum are relevant to information security leaders at the highest level, with a specific focus on Canadian issues and concerns.

The Forum is open to information security practitioners at the director level or above. EC-Council’s CISO events are closed-door events gathering the highest-level executives from across industries and countries to discuss the most pressing issues in information security. Speakers and sponsors from top Canadian companies and government entities are expected. The agenda will feature a mix of keynote talks, panel discussions, and an incident response exercise that will help CISOs get a 360-degree understanding of what happens during a breach and how they should prepare. A cocktail reception will be hosted to ensure attendees have enough time to make connections and learn from their peers – often the most valuable component of any conference. An excursion to an area winery or golf course is also planned with more details to come.
